Case Study: Bilingual Report Writing for Social Listening on Political Events

An international language services agency partnered with a Spain-based communications consultancy to monitor the social and media impact of a major political and legal event.

The objective was to analyse digital conversations generated over a three-month period using social listening tools.

The Challenge

  • Produce daily reports (up to four times a week) in English, with objective, insight-driven conclusions based on data from social media, digital news and other relevant channels.

  • Follow a predefined Word template with a strict 1,000-word limit per report.

  • Deliver on a tight deadline: data became available at noon, and finalised reports were required by 4:00 p.m. the same day.

  • Handle fluctuating volumes of data, depending on media activity, while maintaining editorial quality regardless of input density.

My Role

As a bilingual copywriter with a background in data analysis and institutional communication, I was responsible for:

  • Drafting clear, structured, and objective summaries in English based on daily social listening reports.

  • Distilling large volumes of data into concise, relevant and neutral content.

  • Liaising with internal teams to adapt the editorial approach as media narratives and client priorities evolved.

  • Ensuring stylistic and tonal consistency across all reports to maintain a coherent narrative throughout the project.

Results

  • All reports were delivered on time and to a high editorial standard—even on days with intense media coverage.
  • The end client praised the reports’ clarity, agility and reliability as essential tools for strategic media analysis.
  • The project benefited from smooth, responsive collaboration during highly sensitive political weeks.
  • The success of the assignment led to new opportunities in social, political and institutional monitoring.
